QUETTA: As many as 5,15,507 children would be administered anti-polio vaccines during the anti-polio drive which begins on Monday (Dec 26).
Briefing the media persons, Additional Deputy Commissioner Quetta Mohammad Tariq Mengal flanked by the provincial health officials said that all arrangements have been finalized to commence the drive against crippling disease.
The representatives of WHO, UNICEF and Rotary Club were also present on the occasion.
ADC Quetta while giving the details of the campaign launched in collaboration with the WHO, UNICEF and Rotary Club said that 882 teams have been formed for the vaccination of the anti-polio drops to the children below the age five for 32 zones of the provincial capital.
About 1764 volunteers have been tasked to make sure their door-to-door visit and with the cooperation of the local area people it will be ensured no child below the age of five is uncounted for.
"Health teams on all 55 exit and entry points of the city have also been deployed to make the drive a success", he added.
Mengal, expressing grave concern over the increasing cases of polio reported from parts of the province urged the teachers, politicians, scholars and tribal notables to play their pivotal role in the polio eradication campaign. (APP)
