Uplift of backward areas top agenda of PPP govt: PM
MULTAN: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani said on Thursday that uplift of the backward areas was the top priority of the PPP-led government and a robust and unprecedented process of development was in progress in less-developed areas.

Talking to a delegation of notables here at Prime Minister House, he said that he would soon announce to build a big state-of-the-art cancer hospital in Multan.

Prime Minister Gilani said that motorway and Multan international airport projects would bring about an economic revolution in southern Punjab. He said that he donated his own land for construction of a model basic health unit at Hamidpur Kanoravillage.

He said that Multan cadet College project would be completed within stipulated period. He said that newly-built Head Mohammadwala bridge was the longest bridge in the countryand added that a sum of Rs 2.5 billion would be spent to build a road from this bridge to Chowk Naag Shah in Multan.

Gilani said that the government initiated numerous development projects for the uplift of backward areas in accordance with the vision of the martyred party leaders. (APP)
