FAISALABAD: Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women Centre (SBWC), Faisalabad registered 105 cases of women affected by domestic violence and social injustice during the last six months.

This was stated by Manager SBWC, Kanwal Shahzadi while addressing the meeting of management committee of the centre held here to review the performance of the centre.

She said that SBWC functioning under ministry of human rights had made significant contributions towards bringing women issues to limelight by providing protection, justice and relief to women of the district.

She said that a comprehensive awareness campaign among women who are unable to fight for their rights especially at rural areas would be launched.

Kanwal said the centre had so far reported 961 cases of women victims of domestic violence, social injustice and exploitation since its inception, of which 541 cases had been settled while cases of 302 women are under process at various stages. As many as 102 cases had been disposed of, she added.

Chairperson Rubina Shahab Advocate, EDO (community development) Asif Tarrar, DO (social welfare) Ch Sarfraz Ahmed, members of the committee Mrs Kausar Butt, Mrs KAnwwz Ishaq, Faiqa Yasmin, PRO to CPO Inspector Amir Waheed, Law Officer Zahid Ali Shakir and other also attended the meeting. (APP)
