ISLAMABAD: The rate of liquified petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders for domestic use has surged by Rs155.80, a notification from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) said Monday.
The notification said the new rate will be applicable immediately.
Following the increase, an 11.8kg cylinder will now cost Rs2,559.35. In October, the rate of the same cylinder was Rs2,403.55.
Last month, Prime Minister Imran Khan had turned down an OGRA summary seeking an increase in fuel prices by up to Rs11.53 per litre from November 1, a notification from PM House had said.
The notification said the decision had been taken in the national interest and to "provide relief to the public."
For now, the price of petrol, the most commonly used fuel in private transport, remains at Rs137.79 per litre.
