KARACHI: DIG East Karachi Naeem Baroka Monday rejected reports of any police encounter on Share Faisal, Geo News reported.
He said, in fact, a team of FIA personnel raided a moneychanger's shop acting on a tip-off that illegal practices like Hundi/Hawala were in full swing there.
Upon FIA men’s arrival, who were in plainclothes, the guards outside the currency dealer’s shop opened fire at them, to which the motorists and people at large panicked into believing it to be a police encounter, but things were now under control, added DIG East.
According to details the shop belonged to Malik Bostan, Chairman Exchange Companies Association of Pakistan.
