  • Analysts say moves in gold were likely to remain muted, in part due to thinning liquidity at year-end.
  • International gold price slightly drop by $2 per ounce to $1,797 today.
  • Silver prices in the domestic market remain unchanged at Rs1,460 per tola.

KARACHI: The price of gold in the local market on Monday remained unchanged. The precious metal closed the day at Rs125,300 per tola and Rs107,424 per 10 grams.

The rates last recorded a decrease of Rs550 per tola and Rs472 per 10 grams on Saturday.

Cumulatively, the yellow metal had gained Rs850 per tola in the local market during the week that ended on December 18.

The international gold price slightly dropped by $2 per ounce to $1,797 today, hovering close to a three-week peak scaled in the previous session, as the spread of the Omicron coronavirus variant smothered appetite for riskier assets, lifting bullion's safe-haven appeal.

Analysts said moves in gold were likely to remain muted, in part due to thinning liquidity into the year-end.

Meanwhile, silver prices in the domestic market remained unchanged at Rs1,460 per tola and Rs1,251.71 per 10 grams.
