Karachi: A Karachi-based robotics company has developed a multi-grip bionic arm that aims to mimic natural limb movement at a tenth of the cost of prosthetic limbs.

In 2018, Anas Niaz and Ovais Qureshi formed Bioniks Private Limited introduced the product with the purpose of producing effective and low-cost robotic prosthetic limbs in the market.

In a video interview with German broadcaster Deutsche Welle (DW), Anas and Ovais discussed prosthetic hands and how they benefit people who are missing an arm or both arms.

More than 60% of amputated people of the world live in Southeast Asia, according to Qureshi, yet there was no low-cost solution available to them.
