62 wine bottles, narcotics seized; 60 absconders arrested

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police on Sunday arrested five outlaws including bootleggers from various areas of the city and recovered 62 wine bottles, hashish and weapon from their possession, a police spokesman said.

According to details, patrolling team of Shehzad town police station headed by Sub-Inspector Muneer Hussain arrested a bootlegger from `Service Road Sohan'and recovered 47 wine bottles from him.

Similarly, police patrolling team of Kohsar police headed by Assistant Sub-Inspector Sabir Hussain nabbed Anwar Masih for having 15 wine bottles while Sub-Inspector Iftikhar Ahmed nabbed Wasim Masih in possession of 210 gram hashish.

ASI Nasir Manzoor from Aabpara police station nabbed Abdul Ghaffar atFaizabad police picket in possession of 9 MM pistol and 19 rounds. On a tip off, Sub-Inspector Khalid Mehmud raided at the gambling site near Melody market and arrested Kahsif Hussain.

Other gamblers managed to escape while stake money and mobile phone were recovered from nabbed persons.

During the last two week, Islamabad Police also made efforts to arrest proclaimed offenders, court absconders and succeeded to arrest 60 such criminals who were at large despite their involvement in various crime cases.

SSP Islamabad Muhammad Yousuf Malik has appreciated this overall performance and directed all police officials to ensure effective checking at police pickets as well as entry and exit points. He has further directed to ensure high vigilance and patrolling in their respective areas and curb activities of anti-social elements.

The SSP has also directed heads of all police stations for making renewed efforts to arrest absconders and provide maximum relief to common citizens by resolving their complaints. (APP)
