GDCW organizes lecture on dengue virus
RAWALPINDI: A lecture was organized at Government Degree College for Women Jhanda Cheechi to create awareness among faculty members about dengue fever, informed college spokesman here on Tuesday.

GDCW Principal Prof Shaista Navid Cheema said that the objective of the lecture was to curtail dengue fever which has become a fatal disease in the country. She stressed that the teachers should also deliver lecture to students about the preventive measures, symptoms and treatment to stop dengue fever from becoming a fatal disease this year again.

The lecture was delivered by Dr Hamayun on the instructions of Executive District Office (EDO) Health Dr Zafar Iqbal Gondal in the college. Dr Hamayun, while speaking, appreciated the efforts made by Punjab government to overwhelm dengue outbreak and said that people could also play a vital role in curbing the menace of dengue in the province. He emphasized the role of cleanliness as a chief deterrent against disease and dengue in particular.

Meanwhile, Prof Shahida Ijaz, the college focal person, also set up a stall on the instructions of Punjab government and distributed brochures and booklets mentioning measures against dengue among the students and visitors. All the college professors also delivered comprehensive lectures in their separate classes covering all aspects about awareness of dengue fever and its vector.

Later, a walk was also organized by the college students and their teachers at Jhanda Cheechi Road to make alert the general public about the dengue fever. The female students were carrying placards and banners. The students also dolled out broachers and booklets mentioning preventive measures, symptoms and treatment to stop dengue fever to general public.
