Bollywood actor Saif arrested, released on bail

MUMBAI: Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan has been released on bail here on Wednesday. Earlier, he was arrested for allegedly assaulting a man after a heated argument with him in a restaurant in Mumbai last night, Indian police official said.

According to the police, a case of assault was registered against Khan on the basis of a complaint filed by a man who accused him and his aides of breaking his nose after a scuffle inside the Taj Hotel here.

On Tuesday, the victim Iqbal Sharma approached the police night claiming that he was attacked by Saif Ali Khan and his friends, during which, he was punched by the actor, a senior police officer said adding that the actor is likely to be arrested.

Saif was part of a big group which also included his girlfriend, actress Kareena Kapoor.

The victim claimed that he was having dinner with his family members in Wasabi restaurant in Colaba last night, while the actor and his friends were sitting next to their table, police said.

Sharma stated that he had objected to the loud talks by Khan and his friends. When he pointed it out to them, the actor and his friends got enraged and following a heated argument, attacked him.
