Over 770 school children vaccinated against Hepatitis B in Sindh
HYDERABAD: The Provincial Manager Chief Minister's Initiative for Hepatitis Prevention and Control Programme Sindh, Dr Abdul Majeed Chhutto informed here on Monday that out of six million targeted school going children around 7,70,405 have so far been vaccinated against Hepatitis B.

Giving details, he informed that out of 7,70,405 school going children, 75243 vaccinated in District Matiari, 56650 in Jamshoro, 49595 in Tando Allahyar, 77684 in Dadu, 53161 in Badin, 80996 in Hyderabad, 25517 in Tando Muhammad Khan.

In Karachi Region, he informed that 31033 school going children have so far been vaccinated in Liaquatabad Town, 14234 in Gulberg Town, 38579 in North Karachi Town, 12596 in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Town, 19011 in Shah Faisal Town, 30595 in Jamshed Town, 20814 in Korangi Town, 21949 in Landhi Town, 12688 in Baldia Town, 8874 in SITE Town, 19651 in Orangi Town, 10580 in Keamari Town, 27698 in Saddar Town, 24478 in Liyari Town, 20018 in Malir Town, 10151 in Bin Qasim Town and 18358 school going children have been vaccinated in Gddap Town.

He informed that Chief Minister's Initiative for Hepatitis Prevention and Control Programme Sindh in collaboration with the provincial health and education departments has launched vigorous campaign of Hepatitis Vaccination to six million school going children in all districts of the province.

It is first ever in the history of the country that such a massive campaign against hepatitis has been launched only in Sindh on the directives of the Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah.

He informed that billions of rupees are being spent under Hepatitis Prevention and Control Programme aimed to save the people of the province against hepatitis and motivate them to adopt precautionary measures against the deadly disease.

Besides treatment of Hepatitis-B and Hepatitis-C, Dr Abdul Majeed Chutto informed that Hepatitis Prevention and Control Programme Sindh achieved the task of hepatitis vaccination in all over Sindh particularly the remote parts of the province where ratio of hepatitis is high due to non awareness of precautionary measures against it.

After accomplishing different tasks in successful manner, he informed that the Programme in collaboration with the provincial health and education departments has started vaccination among six million male and female school going children with objective to prevent the disease at the early stage. Besides students, teachers are also being vaccinated against hepatitis, he said.

He informed that in order to collect the data of vaccination among the students, the Programme has also set up a control room in its secretariat where the concerned staff closely monitoring the vaccination campaign.

Dr Abdul Majeed Chutto has appealed to teachers and parents of students to extend their full cooperation so that Hepatitis Prevention and Control Programme could be able to root out hepatitis from the province.
