Former Apple employee accused of defrauding tech giant

A former Apple employee has allegedly defrauded the tech giant, stealing millions of dollars, CNET reported.

The deceit includes not just theft but also taking kickbacks and money laundering.

Dhirendra Prasad has been charged with multiple felonies including intent to commit wire and mail fraud and launder fraud proceeds. Prasad is further being accused of conspiracy to defraud the US government.

Prasad worked for Apple in the Global Service Supply Chain department for a decade starting from December 2008 and ending in December 2018.

Prosecutors also accused two vendors as accomplices in the conspiracies.

If convicted, apart from imprisonment, the US attorney is looking forward to a penalty of $5 million.
