Mercedes-Benz and Bosch have introduced a Level 4 automated valet-parking system called Intelligent Park Pilot, reported CNET.

The driver can drop the car at the entrance of the garage and the car then will park itself. The technology is already being used at the Stuttgart Airport.

This automated parking does not rely on the car’s sensors or computers but is done via external means.

Bosch stereo cameras are placed in the ceiling through which the system works. These expensive cameras, mounted at a maximum of 7.2 feet, provide a panoramic aerial view. Multiple cameras are needed for a single parking spot.

The process can be activated through the Mercedes app.

Currently, the technology is only available for the S-Class and EQS but will expand to other Mercedes models.
