ISLAMABAD: Differences have appeared between Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and officials of Election Commission of Pakistan over withholding of the result of by-elections on PS-53 Tando Muhammad Khan which was won, according to unofficial result, by PPP candidate Waheeda Shah.
The CEC was of the view that the officials of ECP should have consulted him before arriving at a decision of withholding the result of Waheeda Shah.
According to sources at ECP, the decision of withholding the result of Waheeda Shah after her slapping of a Presiding Officer at a polling station in Tando Muhammad Khan created differences between the CEC and ECP officials.
The CEC was in Karachi when the ECP made the decision of withholding the result of by-elections on PS-53 Tando Muhammad Khan.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has also taken suo motto notice of the incident of Waheeda Shah's slapping a Presiding Officer.
