KARARCHI: Discarded opener Shahzaib Hasan smashed a sparkling 71 as Sindh Governor's XI defeated PCB Chairman’s XI by 56 runs in Siraj Bukhari Floodlight Benefit cricket match at National Stadium here on Saturday night.
The match, watched by enthusiastic sizeable crowd, saw a feast of runs as Governor's XI, batting first, posted a huge total of 240-5 in 20 overs. .
Shahzaib and Khurram Manzoor gave their team a flying start of 126 runs in ten overs. Shahzaib hoisted five sixes and struck seven powerful boundaries while Khurram hit six fours in his 48 off 34 balls.
Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi, who was the star attraction, hit 27 in his 16-ball knock laced with two sixes and as many fours.
Wicketkeeper Sarfraz Ahmed celebrated his recall in the Pakistan team with an enterprising 35 in just 15 deliveries spiced with six strikes to the boundary.
PCB Chairman’s XI, in reply, could manage just 185 despite an entertaining knock of 70 by former captain Shoaib Malik in 40 balls studded with ten fours and four sixes while another former skipper Younis Khan contributed 40 in 22 balls hitting five boundaries and one six .
Sindh Sports Minister Dr.Muhammad Ali Shah and Organizing Secretary Prof. Ejaz Farooqui distributed the prizes among the players.
