  • Case has been filed against him.

A Hindu priest, who allegedly threatened to kidnap and rape Muslim women, has been reported to the police and a case has been registered against him, NDTV reported.

Police have started their investigation by taking statements from eye witnesses.

The clips of the speech sparked controversy after it was shared on social media. He reportedly gave this hate speech outside a mosque in Uttar Pradesh's Sitapur district.

In the video, a man in a saffron robe can be seen addressing a crowd from inside a jeep.

He can be heard saying, "If you harass a Hindu girl, I will kidnap Muslim daughters from their houses and rape them."

Unfortunately, the threat was met with loud cheers and applause.

Following a post on Twitter by Mohammad Zubair who published a clip of the speech, netizens called for action against the priest, identified by some as "Bajrang Muni".

Twitter users tried to approach the UN human rights body and India's National Commission for Women, requesting immediate intervention in the matter.

"The police should not be a mute spectator in such incidents and appropriate measures must be taken by them to curb people from using such outrageous language for women," NDTV quoted the National Commission for Women as saying.
