Ex-PM Imran Khan's policy forces Port Qasim Authority to shut down its sports department

KARACHI: The Port Qasim Authority (PQA) Monday shut down its sports department and directed cricketers and hockey players to join office duty.

According to the details, the PQA has announced to shut down its sports department after no departmental sports event took place during ex-Prime Minister Imran Khan's tenure.

The former premier demolished the departmental sports structure which led to the closure of several departmental sports teams.

The PQA is the latest department that has shut down its sports department. In a circular issued on April 12, the players have been advised to join office duty immediately.

Some of the prominent international and first-class cricketers associated with PQA include Shahzaib Ahmed, Tanvir Ahmed, Atif Ali, Faraz Ali, Umar Amin, Shahzaib Hasan, Azam Hussain, Shadab Kabir, Aariz Kamal, Asim Kamal, Khalid Latif, Khurram Manzoor, Abdur Rauf, Mohammad Salman, Mohammad Sami, Zohaib Shera, Mohammad Talha, Usman Tariq, Noor Wali and Taj Wali.
