Miley Cyrus’ parents Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus have recently opened up about their relationship after filing for divorce in the first week of April.
The former couple said that they had grown together as individuals and now it’s time to part ways, with no grudge against each other, in a joint statement published to People.
“It is after 30 years, five amazing children and a lifetime of memories, we have decided to go our separate ways—not with sadness, but with love in our hearts,” the Last Song actress’ parents stated.
E! News reported that Tish filed divorce papers in Williamson County on April 6 and quoted, “irreconcilable differences” to describe her marital relationship with Billy after more than 28 years.
In the filing, Miley’s mother also noted that it’s been more than two years since she and her husband have cohabitated.
However, the soon-to-be exes want to keep things amicable even after the divorce.
"We will always be family and look forward to a continued and loving shared experience as friends and parents,” they wrote.
The couple intends to “create their own paths” and since family responsibility has usurped a major chunk of their life; they now want to invest all of their energy and “focus” on other “important things” in the world.
