Mass supports for polio campaign sought
HYDERABAD: Sindh Minister for Fisheries Zahid Ali Bhurgari has called upon the people to realize the hazards of polio disease and immunize their children of under five years age during three days long polio eradication campaign being started in all talukas of Hyderabad district from March 12.

Zahid Ali Bhurgari who is also the President of Pakistan Peoples Party Hyderabad District was addressing the participants of the walk, which started from Hyderabad Gymkhana to Hyderabad Press Club here on Saturday in connection with mass awareness campaign against polio.

The minister said that the government has taken serious notice of the detection of polio cases in different parts of the province and issued strict directives to launch massive polio eradication campaign with objective to make Pakistan a polio free country of the world.

He said that lack of awareness about the hazards of polio is causing difficulties in carry out polio eradication campaign in successful manner.

The people should realize the hazards of polio disease and immunize their children of under five years age against polio, the minister advised adding the successful campaign against polio will help in bringing a health society.

MNA Ameer Ali Shah Jamote who also attended the rally said that such type of events would help in creating awareness and motivate the people to immunize anti-polio drops to their children of under five years age.

Among others the Deputy Commissioner Hyderabad Asif Ali Memon, District Health Officer Dr. Bux Ali Pitafi and Dr. Salma Memon also addressed the participants of walk and highlighted the efforts being made by the district administration in rooting out the polio from the district. (APP)
