A 21-year-old in India was arrested for allegedly murdering his flatmate over an argument about washing utensils, the Hindustan Times reported.

The accused has been identified as a native of India's Cuttack district, Anil Kumar Saratkumar Das. The victim was identified as 28-year-old Amar Basant Mahopatra.

The complaint was lodged by the third man who lived with them. Birju Sahu, 40, reported the crime.

All three men have migrated from different states and work as barbers in Pune.

They lived in a rented flat together. On Friday, a little before midnight, Mohaptra asked Das to wash the utensils, according to the police. Enraged by the request, Das picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed Mohaptra brutally.
