A 24-year-old woman sustained severe burn injuries after a man splashed acid on her, the Hindustan Times reported.

Reportedly, the accused was a stalker, following the victim for years after she rejected his marital proposal multiple times.

To avenge the rejection, he decided to attack the woman with acid.

The police said the accused had threatened the victim a day before the incident. Keeping that in mind, she went to work with her father.

At night, however, he visited her office and waited on the staircases. There, he asked her to marry him yet again. When she rejected the offer, he splashed acid on her and ran away.

She sustained injuries on her face, neck, and hands. Police is trying to hunt the man down.

The stalker has been identified as 27-year-old Nagesh. He is a worker in a garment factory.

The victim was rushed to the hospital and is now in a stable condition, the police reported.

"We have formed teams to nab the accused at the earliest," said Deputy Commissioner of Police-West Division in Bengaluru City, Sanjeev M Patil.
