FAISALABAD: Two police officials were suspended on charge of torturing a doctor and detaining a youth illegally.

According to reports, Maddo along with his relatives confined Abdul Lateef, of Chak No 46-JB, over a property dispute and also allegedly tortured him.

After torture, the accused called in police and handed Abdul Lateef over to police by dubbing him a dacoit. They told police that Abdul Lateef had entered their house to commit robbery but they caught him and also recovered weapons and a daggar.

The police took Abdul Lateef to hospital where he was admitted, but later police took him from the hospital without informing and taking permission from hospital staff.

The police allegedly took Abdul Lateef to a checkpost where they subjected him to severe torture. When his condition worsened, police re-shifted Abdul Lateef to the hospital where a doctor reprimanded police for taking the patient from hospital without informing staff. But police also allegedly subjected the doctor to severe torture.

Hospital MS Dr Rashid Maqbool informed the City Police Officer (CPO) about the incident and he directed SSP Operation Sadiq Ali Dogar to probe the matter and submit a report.

On his report, two police officials including in charge of Pul Dingro post were suspended while a case was also registered against four people on the complaint of Abdul Lateef besides issuing a show-cause notice to the Nishatabad SHO.
