HYDERABAD: The Divisional Commissioner Hyderabad Ahmed Bux Narejo has said that the cultural exchange between Muslim World can further strengthen the brotherly relations as well as improvement in socio-economic in the Muslim countries.
This he observed while addressing the inaugural ceremony of Indonesian Production Exhibition here at local hotel on Friday.
The Commissioner said that organizing such type of events should be continued in future as such kind of interactions, cultural and trade exchanges will boost tourism and bilateral trades.
Indonesia is the largest Muslim country and Pakistan is the second largest and we have a history of cooperation and help to our Muslim brothers, he said and recalled that during the Indonesian National Revolution, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah encouraged the Muslim soldiers to join hands with Indonesians against the Dutch Empire.
He said that Indonesia and Pakistan also exchange military personnel for training. We are together in OIC and support the interests of Muslims, he added.
The Commissioner said that size of trade between the two countries is around one billion US Dollars which needs to be enhanced. He hoped that Pakistan will import more products from Indonesia apart from palm oil.
He invited Indonesian brethren to make investment in energy sector and agro based industry in Hyderabad Division for which they will be welcomed and fully facilitated. The Indonesian investors will find a conducive environment here, he said and added that such investment will further strengthen the relationship between the two countries.
He requested the Consul General Republic of Indonesia at Pakistan Mr. Rossalis to propose a city of Indonesia, which can be made sister city of Hyderabad and wished that this activity may bring the two countries closer.
The Consul General in his address said Pakistan possess good potential for investment in various fields due to its resources and investment friendly policies of the present democratic government.
He said that law and order situation in Pakistan is considerably better as compared to past. He said that foreign investors are being facilitated accordingly and added that this will pave the way for the economic prosperity of the common people.
In addition to have religious brotherhood, he said Pakistan and Indonesian are also enjoying good friendly relation as well.
The President of Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry Goharullah in his address assured full support to the Indonesian traders and government for strengthening trade relations and added that a group of Industries of Pakistan would soon arrange same programmes in Indonesia.
