Pakistani artists attempt world’s largest painting
LAHORE: Pakistani students on Friday painted world's largest canvas to mark the celebrations of Pakistan Day at National hockey stadium.

A big gathering of 1300 painters belonging to various educations institutions of Punjab province gathered at world's biggest hockey arena in the morning and started their challenging task by dividing their paint work in groups.

The Astroturf of the stadium was covered with plastic sheets to avoid
damage and penetrating of colours.

The painting named "Colors of Pakistan” is the largest canvas of the
world measuring at 42000 sq ft and it depicted the skills of promising
painters who made the canvas a big National Flag, finishing their job at around 5pm amid rousing applause from a big gathering of families and lovers of sports and paintings. Nigerian students set the previous record of making world’s largest painting on 25000 sq-ft canvas.

The stadium was open to the general public from the moment the painters started their job and people watched them displaying different colours, highlighting Pakistan's centuries old culture, heritage and achievements in sports.

Senator Pervez Rasheed, Deputy Speaker, Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan and Director General Sports Usman Anwar also visited the stadium and appreciated the zeal the commitment and promise of the young students who were united in a national cause to get their achievement enlisted in Guinness Book of World record.

We are delighted to see that our students are rich in talent and they are exhibiting their skills to paint world's largest canvas ,said Pervez Rasheed.

"Youth is playing an important role to prominent Pakistan in the world and we are confident that their achievement will get a place in record books ", said Rana Mashhood.

Usman Anwar said by painting worlds largest canvas the students have highlighted ‘The Colours of Pakistan' in real sense which is
appreciable.

We have fulfilled the necessary procedure to get the canvas a place in Guinness book of world record and we will be sending them the necessary proofs the way it was produced ,said the director general of sports in Punjab. (APP)
