Profiteers, food outlets fined

LAHORE: District Food Department and Price control magistrates during ongoing drive, fined 62 shopkeepers for profiteering and a number of food outlets for unhygienic food in the current week.

The special teams following the directions by DCO Noorul Amin Mengal checked 170 shops and challaned 62 shopkeepers while one shopkeeper arrested and overall Rs 80,000 fine was imposed.

Similarly, food inspectors inspected food samples of 482 hotels, marriage halls, sweets and bakers and other food outlets in city during last 3 days and imposed fine of Rs 41,000 on selling substandard and un hygienic food.

DCO has issued instructions to the monitoring teams to continue crack down against profiteers to ensure selling of essential items at fixed prices and hygienic food in the city. (APP)
