ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police have busted a gang involved in snatching vehicle from the son of Member National Assembly at gun point in guise of policemen besides arresting six other persons from various areas for their alleged involvement in criminal activities, a police spokesman said on Tuesday.
According to details, Ghulam Murtaza son of MNA Nazeer Ahmed lodged the report with Kohsar police station that his vehicle (Land Cruiser, Sindh BD-8624) was snatched from him on May 5 when he was going back home from sector F-8. He stated in the application that when he reached near F-7/2, two persons in police uniform stopped him and asked him to show documents of the vehicle as it seemed non-custom paid.
They boarded on the vehicle and asked to move ahead for further checking of vehicles by their officers who were standing at some distance. The complainant said that they snatched vehicle from him as he drove it little ahead.
Following this compliant, IGP Islamabad Bani Amin Khan directed SSP Muhammad Yousuf Malik to trace out the culprits at earliest. A special team under the supervision of SP (City) Muhammad Ilyas was constituted including Sub-Inspector Iftikhar Ahmed which succeeded to arrest four culprits after hard work of day and night and also recovered snatched vehicle from them. The nabbed persons were identified as Syed Mohsin Ali s/o Farman Ali resident of Bharia town Islamabad, Asim Ali Javed s/o Javed Iqbal resident of Sughra tower Islamabad, Yasir s/o Sahfi Khan resident of Peshawar and Iram Sehar.
Further investigation is underway from these nabbed persons and police hve also obtained their two-day physical remand from concerned court. MNA Nazir Ahmed has also appreciated this performance of Islamabad police and said this force has brilliant officers bringing laurels for it. He also lauded the special efforts of SSP Islamabad Muhammad Yousf Malik, SP (City) Ilyas and his team.
Meanwhile, Sub-Inspector Muhammad Yousuf from Tarnol police apprehended three auto-thieves and recovered stolen Corolla car (MS-352) from them. These auto-thieves were identified as Waqas, Pervez Akhtat and Waheed who took away this car from area of Rawalpindi.
Sub-Inspector Alamgir Khan from Sabzi Manid police arrested an accused Yasir Mehmud and recovered 30 bore pistol from him while Sub-Inspector Anar from Sihala police apprehended Iqbal in possession of 55 gram heroin.
ASI Mushtaq Hussain from Koral police arrested Rehman Zeb for having 30 bore pistol. Cases have been registered against these nabbed persons and further investigation is underway from them.
