ISLAMABAD: Meeting of the Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan (LJCP) will be held today (Saturday) in the Supreme Court of Pakistan, under the Chairmanship of Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.
The meeting will be attended by, Mr. Justice Agha Rafiq Ahmed Khan, Chief Justice Federal Shariat Court, Mr. Justice Qazi Faez Isa, Chief Justice Balochistan High Court, Mr. Justice Mushir Alam, Chief Justice Sindh High Court, Mr. Justice Sh. Azmat Saeed, Chief Justice Lahore High Court,
Mr. Justice Dost Muhammad Khan, Chief Justice Peshawar High Court, Mr. Irfan Qadir, Attorney General of Pakistan, senior officials of the federal law ministry and some members of the legal community.
The commission will consider several Law Reform Proposals, including amendments in Section 426 & 497 of the Criminal Procedure Code, (CPC) 1898, relating to the grant of bail to pregnant women and mothers of suckling babies, languishing in jails, enhancement of jurisdiction of Family Court and enhancing the scope of Smoking and Protection of Non-Smokers Health Ordinance, 2002.
