Doctors observe two-hour token strike
KARACHI: Doctors associated with Civil Hospital, Karachi, Lyari General Hospital and Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Centre observed a two-hour token strike on Monday from 12 noon to 2 p.m.

In accordance to the decision made and unanimously approved by all members of Pakistan Medical Association's Sindh chapter, doctors of the three major hospitals in city did not attend patients, others than emergency cases, during this period.

The two-hour token strike will continue till recovery of Surgeon Aftab Qureishi and Dr. Faisal Iftikhar besides adequate measures for the protection of medical community of the province against extortion, robberies and high handedness of criminal elements in general, said a PMA - Sindh office bearer on Monday.

He said the doctors wanted the government to take a "meaningful notice" and also the general public must realize the plight of doctors who find it extremely difficult to realize their professional obligations in the given circumstances.
