Gambling den raided in G-9 Markaz; POs arrested

ISLAMABAD: Margallah police Islamabad raided at the gambling den in G-9 Markaz and recovered valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees from their possession, a police spokesman said here on Wednesday.

Station House Officer Margallah police station, Insepctor Muhammad Hussain Lasi said that IGP Islamabad Bani Amin Khan had categorically directed for effective crackdown against those involved in gambling activities. Following his directions, a special team under his supervision raided at the basement of `Laraib Center' in G-9 Markaz and recovered cash, four computers, fax machines, telephones and balloting receipts.

Police also arrested a person Hameed who was running this gambling den of `Lotri receipts' while four other gamblers identified as Abdul Ghaffar, Tariq Javed, Shaukat Ali and Maroof were also nabbed during this raid.

Meanwhile, another police team of Margallah police station arrested two proclaimed offenders Javed and Shamraiz who were wanted to police in wine selling cases. Further investigation is underway from them.

IGP Islamabad Bani Amin Khan has appreciated this performance of Margallah police team and directed for further effective crackdown against those running gambling dens or involved in immoral activities.
