QUETTA: Member PM task force on polio and provincial minister Begum Shama Perveen Magsi on Friday said that there was extensive declined in the polio cases in Balochistan adding that the measures are being taken by the provincial government and international organizations to end the crippling disease effectively.
She made these remarks while addressing a meeting held here to review the polio situation in parts of the province.
"Situation in the districts including Quetta Noskhi, Bolan and Mastung has been controlled by the timely and effective plan devised by the health department in collaboration with UNICEF, Rotary Club and other organizations, she added.
She added that the collective efforts of the government and civil society were yielding positive results in the fight to eradicate the menace of polio from the province.
"It is the prime responsibility of the teachers, tribal elders, scholars and other notable to create awareness about the jeopardy of the disease which could put the lives of their next generation in danger", she said adding we would have to be unanimous and decide that our child would not be the next victim of the polio.
Earlier, she was briefed about the prevailing situation of polio in Balochistan and steps being taken by the health department to control the disease effectively.
Additional Chief Secretary Development Balochistan Meeran Jaan Kakar, secretaries, representatives of the UNICEF, Rotary Club attended the meeting.
