Firing near Youm-e-Ali (RA) procession in Karachi

KARACHI: Unidentified armed men opened fire near the central procession of Youm-e-Ali (RA) in Bolton Market Karachi on Friday, Geo News reported.

Around 15 to 20 gun shots were fired that created panic among the participants of the procession, who started pelting stones on the police and Rangers. No loss of life has been reported.

A large number of infuriated mourners of the procession started protest against the firing incident.

Commissioner Karachi Roshan Ali Shaikh said gun shots were fired by some people when a group of nearly 800 people was declined to enter the main procession without security check near Light House. The Rangers restored to aerial firing in retaliation.

The situation is under control now, the commissioner added.
