LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said Punjab Agricultural and Meat Company (PAMCO) has been established to ensure provision of quality and hygienic meat to the citizens at affordable rates as well as earning precious foreign exchange for the country through its export.
Presiding over a high level meeting to review matters relating to PAMCO, here Friday, he stressed the need for early operationalization of the institution, and directed the outsource committee should complete the work of outsourcing the contracts of PAMCO by November 10.
He directed that separate agreements should be made with the concerned companies regarding export of meat products. He directed that indiscriminate action should be taken against illegal abattoirs while registration work of mutton shops should be further expedited.
He said arrangements should be made to supply meat in different areas of the provincial metropolis through mobile meat shops, which should operate under PAMCO.
Later, the Chief Minister was given a detailed briefing by First Islamic Micro Finance Organization of Pakistan aimed at the welfare and uplift of small farmers with lesser resources, upon which the Chief Minister ordered formation of a committee, under the chairmanship of Chairman P&D, which will finalize its recommendations within four days in this regard.
