Pakistan suffer humiliating defeat against Kuwait in SAFF Championship

Pakistan are nearly out of the event after two consecutive defeats in the championship

With its second defeat in a row, Kuwait on Saturday thrashed Pakistan 4-0 in the ongoing SAFF Championship at the Sri Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru, India on Saturday.

Pakistan are nearly out of the event after two consecutive defeats in the championship. They suffered a 4-0 loss against India on Wednesday in their opening match.

Hasan Al Enezi gave Kuwait the lead in the 10th minute of the match, meanwhile, Mubarak Al Faneni doubled their advantage seven minutes later.

Mubarak put his side in complete control in injury time, towards the end of the first half, with another goal.

Pakistan failed to stop the flow of goals in the second half as Eid Al Rashedi increased Kuwait’s lead to 4-0 in the 69th minute of the match.

Kuwait also defeated Nepal 3-1 in their first match.

Later today, India will face Nepal in the second match of the day at the same venue.

It must be noted that India, Lebanon, Kuwait, Nepal, Bhutan, Maldives, Bangladesh and Pakistan are competing for the title in the 14th edition of the SAFF Championship.

Lebanon and Kuwait, who are members of the West Asian Football Federation (WAFF), are participating in the event as guest teams.

The top two teams from each group will qualify for the semi-finals, which will be played on July 1. The final will be held on July 4.
