Karachi Water & Sewerage Board chief steps down

KARACHI: Managing Director Karachi Water & Sewerage Board (KW&SB), Misbahuuddin Farid has stepped down, Geo News reported.

A KW&SB spokesman, talking to Geo News, confirmed Farid’s resignation.

Analysts said Farid had most probably bore the brunt of his pulling the curtain on the water-tanker mafia and illegal hydrants rampant in Karachi.

It is pertinent to mention that Farid made some startling disclosures on how the authorities concerned had been stonewalling his department's efforts against the theft of water worth billions of rupees during Geo TV’s programme “Aaj Karman Khan Kay Sath”.

His revelations also dropped clues of a likely collusion between the power corridors and the water-tanker mafia, analyst said further.
