ISLAMABAD: Sabzi Mandi police on Saturday arrested two persons for their alleged involvement in killing a Muazzin and nine foreign nationals with 1.5 kilogram heroin and 32 bottles of wine.
According to a police spokesman, the two persons while trying to take away the batteries from the tower of a mobile company adjacent to a religious seminary and Masjid situated in Sector I-10/1 were overpowered by a staffer Osama and Muazzin of Masjid Zahid Rasheed. Osama rushed to the police station to register the report of the incident but unfortunately both the accused escaped after injuring Zahid Rasheed through repeated attacks with knives.
The wounded Zahid Rasheed was shifted to a hospital but he succumbed to his injuries there. Following this incident, IGP Islamabad Bani Amin Khan and SSP Yaseen Farooq constituted a special team, which succeeded in arresting the killers identified as Faisal Iqbal s/o Muhammad Iqbal resident of sector G-11/2 and Shehzad Masih s/o Bashir Mashi resident of Sector G-7/1.
Meanwhile, Sazbi Mandi police also nabbed nine foreign nationals hailing from South Africa, Nigeria and Kenya for having a total of 32 wine bottles and 1.5 kilogram heroin.
