JI offers funeral prayer for Dr Pervez Mehmood

KARACHI: The funeral prayer of Dr Pervez Mehmood, former town nazim of Liaquatabad and Jamaat-i-Islami leader (JI), has been offered at Numaish Chowrangi Tuesday, Geo News reported.

According to sources, the funeral took place at Numaish Chowrangi in Karachi today after the Zuhr prayers. The prayer was lead by former city nazim Naimatullah Khan Advocate. Strict security measures were adopted on the occasion.

JI has called for a shutter-down strike in Karachi on Wednesday (tomorrow) while country-wide mourning will be observed on the killing of their leader.

The funeral attendants will proceed towards Chief Minister House to stage a sit-in.

On Monday night, unknown gunmen opened fire on Dr Pervez Mehmood’s vehicle in North Nazimabad. He was seriously injured while his friend was killed on the spot.

Dr Mehmood was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hopsital where he succumbed to his injuries.
