The Pantone Color Institute has declared "Peach Fuzz" as the defining shade of 2024, claiming that it represents peace and serenity, and saying that this light, fruity tone aims to provide a warm and nurturing touch, especially during times of turmoil.

Leatrice Eisman, a Pantone colour specialist, emphasised the importance of tactility in the current climate, noting that it's a time to touch and connect with others.

Peach tones have been prevalent on high-fashion runways, with notable appearances in the Spring-Summer 2024 collections of renowned brands like Gucci, Jil Sander, and Sportmax.

The Oscars Vanity Fair Afterparty showcased Hilary Duff in a peach-hued Dolce & Gabbana gown, reinforcing the hue's presence in the fashion spotlight.

The colour selection process involves a cumulative approach, considering not only recent iterations but also past instances. Beyoncé's 2016 Met Gala appearance in a peach Givenchy gown left a lasting impression, demonstrating the longevity of certain colour ideas.

Peachy pop culture moments continued to grow, featuring celebrities like Florence Pugh and Zoë Kravitz embracing the nostalgic hue on the red carpet.

Notably, Pantone's Color of the Year initiative celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2024. Over the years, the colour choices have reflected the collective mood, addressing themes of endurance, optimism, courage, and strength.

For the milestone year, "Peach Fuzz" offers a retreat inwards, providing a quiet space for peace and respite amid the whirlwind of contemporary challenges.

Leatrice Eisman highlighted the significance of the chosen colour, stating, "In 2023, we celebrated coming out of the malaise of the last year. We feel that next year, with so much whirling in the atmosphere around us, there will be a need for some quiet, some peace, some respite, and that’s what that Peach Fuzz will be for us."
