MELBOURNE: Pakistan spinner Noman Ali has been ruled out of the Test series against Australia due to acute appendicitis, according to a statement issued by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

It said that Noman Ali complained of sudden and severe abdominal pain yesterday, leading to examinations and scans in an emergency that confirmed a diagnosis of acute appendicitis.

The PCB stated that on the surgeon’s advice, he underwent a Laparoscopic Appendectomy today in the morning.

The cricketer is stable and doing fine post-surgery. He will be discharged later this afternoon.

Noman Ali is the second Pakistani bowler to have been ruled out of the Test series in Australia on fitness grounds after Khurram Shehzad.

Pakistan will play the second Test in Melbourne from Dec 26 after losing the opening game of the three-match series.
