Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's daughter, the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) superstar Ava, recently claimed that she has received death threats due to the backlash over the company's storyline involving her father.
WWE legend Cody Rhodes was set to face Universal Champion Roman Reigns at WrestleMania but was recently replaced by The Rock prompting backlash from fans, Daily Mail reported.
After two years of anticipation, fans are displeased with the booking decision and have expressed displeasure by booing mentions of The Rock during live shows. This backlash has sparked a heated debate on the match.
Fans are furious to have The Rock face Reigns after spending two years building towards Rhodes finally "finishing his story".
Ava, currently cast in the general manager role for WWE's developmental brand NXT, addressed the backlash on social media.
"Can ya’ll just leave me out of this ffs i’m busy running a SHOW," Ava posted on X, previously known as Twitter, before writing a follow-up message.
"Death threats over a situation i have nothing to do with … bffr."
It has also been mentioned that fan reaction may be playing right into WWE's hands if the company's long-term plan was to set up a triple-threat match between The Rock, Rhodes, and Reigns.
Rhodes has also received public backing from WWE United States Champion Logan Paul and fellow superstar Ricochet, who joined in on the "#WeWantCody" hashtag that spent days trending on X.
