Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, defeated Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-backed Shehryar Riaz in NA-56 Rawalpindi-5 constituency.

Abbasi secured 96,649 votes against PTI's Riaz, who bagged 82,613 votes.

Awami Muslim League’s (AML) Sheikh Rashid Ahmad, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-backed Shehryar Riaz, Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) Sumaira Gul, and Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan’s (TLP) Sajjad Akbar Abbasi are among more two dozen candidates vied for the seat.

The constituency — previous NA-62 Rawalpindi-VI — comprises Rawalpindi Metropolitan Corporation’s Charge No.34’s Circle No 1 and 2, Charge No 35 and 36, Chaklala Cantonment excluding the following charges: Charge No 5, 6, Charges of Municipal Corporation Rawalpindi: Charge No 20, 21, 25, 26, 27, and 28.
