RAWALPINDI: A terrorist, who had been involved in taking the lives of innocent civilians, was gunned down in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s (KP) Dera Ismail Khan district, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said Tuesday.

According to the military’s media wing, security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in the DI Khan district today.

During the conduct of the operation, intense fire exchange took place between own troops and terrorists as a result of which terrorist Muhammad Sohail was killed, the ISPR added.

The killed terrorist remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against law enforcement agencies as well as target killings of innocent civilians.

A sanitisation operation is being conducted to wipe out any other terrorists found in the area. Locals of the area appreciated the security forces' action.

Earlier in the month, the security forces also killed at least two terrorists, including a “high-value-target”, during an IBO in the same district.

After an exchange of fire between troops and terrorists, HVT terrorist ring leader Ashraf Sheikh and terrorist Burhan Ullah were killed. The forces also recovered weapons, ammunition, and explosives were also recovered from the killed terrorists.
