For one of the wealthiest families in India, a wedding is more than just a ceremony; it's an extravagant event meant to astound even the most powerful and wealthy individuals on the planet, The Guardian reported.

In 2018, the wealthiest man in India, Mukesh Ambani, hosted the most lavish wedding the nation had ever seen for his daughter Isha. Reportedly costing about $100 million, guests attended receptions in Rajasthan, Mumbai and Lake Como in Italy, where even American pop star Beyoncé performed.

Ambani is set to throw an even more extravagant affair this time for the wedding of his youngest son, 28-year-old Anant Ambani.

In the western Indian state of Gujarat, Ambani and his wife Nita, son Anant, and his fiancée Radhika Merchant organised a three-day feast for the locals in Reliance Township in his hometown of Jamnagar, which began on Wednesday.

Anant who also serves as a director on the boards of several Reliance-owned firms, is expected to marry Merchant, 29, the daughter of an industrialist, later this year.

The guest list of around 2,000 includes King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk and wife Jetsun Pema of Bhutan, American popstar Rihanna, daughter of former US president Donald Trump, Ivanka Trump, Bill Gates, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai, Walt Disney CEO Bob Iger, and BlackRock Chairman and CEO Larry Fink.

According to local sources, the wedding is likely to be organised in June or July.

Till March 6, the Jamnagar airport has turned into an "international terminal" to handle around 150 unscheduled flights that include Airbuses and Boeings.
