NAIROBI: The African Union condemned the forced resignation of Malian Prime Minister Cheick Modibo Diarra, saying the army must obey the authority of civilian powers, the pan-African bloc said Wednesday.
AU Commission chief Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma said in statement she "firmly condemns the conditions of the resignation" of Diarra. The AU demanded the military be "completely subordinate" to civil authorities, she added.
