Authorities in Indiana said Sunday at least one person was killed and five others injured after a shooting that erupted in a bar in Indianapolis, as police recovered the firearm from the parking lot, ABC7 reported.

Among the injured was also a uniformed police officer who was off-duty, the authorities said.

Officials of Indianapolis Metro Police told the medial that at about 1:30am two officers — who were in uniform but were off-duty — were at a bar when there was a disturbance in the parking lot.

The officials said that police exchanged gunfire with a suspect and one of the officers was struck who was later transported to a local hospital and is expected to be okay.

His condition is reported to be stable and will be released soon from the hospital.

The police also said that the other four wounded are also in good condition and are likely to recover from their injuries.

Just after the shooting in Indiana, a person — having gunshot wounds — came to a local hospital for the treatment of his injuries but died. According to the police, the deceased was believed to be connected with the latest gun violence.

Separately, a shooting in Chicago’s South Side injured at least five people including a newborn baby.

According to authorities in Chicago, a vehicle with four adults was struck by firing at around 12:14pm in the 7900 block of South Wood Street.

Police started an investigation and no arrest has been made yet.
