Elon Musk, the CEO of SpaceX and Tesla announced Thursday the latest development for the users of his social media platform, with an additional number of benefits they would get.

The 52-year-old Musk bought the then-Twitter — now X — for $44 billion in October 2022.

After his takeover he carried out several changes for the users such as blue ticks from prominent figures and charging $8 for the marks, sparking fears of disinformation and fake news.

The latest development for the users stated that some X accounts will be accessing premium features free of cost.

Elon Musk — who is also a founder of the Boring Company and Neuralink — wrote on X: "Going forward, all ???? accounts with over 2500 verified subscriber followers will get Premium features for free and accounts with over 5000 will get Premium+ for free."

The users who have bought premium can write longer posts and less number of advertisements, including a blue checkmark.

Premium+ users have larger access as they can use the artificial intelligence (AI) model Grok which is reported to answer almost anything. The premium+ costs $16 a month.

Since the billionaire carried out changes, a large number of people were anticipating to leave X and turn to other platforms such as Bluesky or Meta-owned Threads however, reports show that the alternative platforms met limited success.
