Cristiano Ronaldo talked about his long-standing rivalry with Lionel Messi and disclosed that they were not friends in a recent interview.

Their rivalry in Spain has shaped both players' lives and propelled them to football heights never before achieved. They currently hold the record for the most Ballons d'Or honours, having won a total of 13 in more than ten years, according to Sportskeeda.

However, they have since stopped playing in European football.

Ronaldo and Messi, who signed with Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia and Inter Miami in the United States, respectively, have both started a new chapter in their careers.

During a press conference, Ronaldo made the following noteworthy remarks regarding their rivalry, according to Goal:

"If you like Cristiano, you don't have to hate Messi. The two changed the history of football and are respected. Rivalry? I don't see those things like that, we shared the stage for 15 years. I'm not saying we are friends but we respect each other."

Prior to relocating to France to play for Paris Saint-Germain, Lionel Messi spent the majority of his career at Barcelona. Before deciding to relocate to the United States, he only played for two clubs in Europe.
