DALLAS: With the holy month of Ramadan coming to an end, Muslims residing in the United States, like those around the world, are also celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr with religious fervour and zeal.

Eid prayers were offered in hundreds of mosques in the US state of Texas in Houston, Dallas and other cities.

At Darul Uloom Houston, Mufti Dr Abdul Wahid led the Eid prayers; whereas, Allama Babar Rahmani led the prayers at Carlton's Madina mosque.

Large number of people, including women and children, participated in Eid prayers in Epic Irving, Masjid Valley Ranch, Dar El Eman Arlington, and other mosques.

Meanwhile, Eid prayers at more than 60 mosques were organised in Dale country alone.

The gatherings saw scholars highlighting the significance of and the need for unity among Muslims. The attendees also prayed for the development and prosperity of Pakistan as well as for the people of Palestine and their freedom from Israeli oppression and occupation.

Following the prayers, as per the tradition, people embraced and greeted each other; whereas, some even visited the cemeteries to offer prayers at the graves of their loved ones.

All public and private offices and educational institutions in Texas granted holidays to Muslim employees and students on the auspicious occasion of Eid.

However, Eid celebrations in Pennsylvania were marred by violence after multiple people were injured in a firing incident at the Clara Muhammad Square park in Philadelphia.

The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon when two groups opened fire at each other at the site where around 1,000 people were gathered to celebrate Eid.

Although no casualties have been reported so far, as many as three people are said to have sustained injuries in the incident which saw around 30 rounds being fired, Fox29 News reported.

Meanwhile, the police have taken five people into custody and have confiscated five weapons from the incident site.
