An 18-year-old youth died after he was subjected to alleged violence by a fake spiritual healer in Bahawalnagar's Takht Mahal area, police told Geo News.

According to the police, the young man was visiting the healer for spiritual treatment for a medical issue and was killed following violence on Wednesday.

The police, on the other hand, registered a case against the suspect, kick-starting probe into the incident. The "healer" has also been arrested by the police.

"A case has been registered on the complaint of the youngster's brother, the investigation is ongoing," the police said.

Police further shared that Zulqarnain, the deceased teenager's brother, told them that the healer named Pir Zaheer Ahmed, came to their house a few days a go.

He told the young man's family that he was possessed by spirits, the family left him with the healer. But after hearing about his brother's condition, Zulqarnain went to visit him on Wednesday and discovered that the teenager was dead.

"Yesterday, after hearing about his illness, we went to the healer but [our] brother had passed away," Zulqarnain told Geo News.

The brother now alleges that the 18-year-old was tortured and killed by the healer and sought justice from relevant authorities in power.
