Clean energy: US ambassador inaugurates Investment Roadshow

United States Ambassador to Pakistan Donald Blome Wednesday inaugurated the second Investment Roadshow in Karachi focusing on boosting commercially viable clean energy projects.

The initiative, organised by the US Agency for International Development (USAID) funded Pakistan Private Sector Energy (PPSE) Project, aims to catalyse investment in commercially viable clean energy projects and help businesses access critical financing.

The second Investment Roadshow comes amid the backdrop of more than $30 million mobilised by the PPSE for projects focusing on clean energy, e-mobility, and energy efficiency. 

During today's event, 14 participating companies showcased their work at the roadshow, promoting private sector investment in sustainable and viable clean energy solutions. 

The participants also presented prototype models and pitched their innovative solutions to a diverse group of investors and financiers.

Expressing his views on the occasion, Ambassador Blome said: "Expanding clean energy requires a supportive environment, which is why the United States continues to work with Pakistan on developing a stronger investment climate."

The envoy further underscored that investing in clean energy and low-carbon technologies is crucial for Pakistan to achieve its renewable energy goals.

Meanwhile, speaking at the event, Sindh Secretary for Environment, Climate Change, and Coastal Affairs Dr Nabeela Umer welcomed the US support for the transition in the country's energy sector and termed the initiative a "vital platform" used for showcasing the critical need for increased investment in scaling up clean energy companies.

"We are grateful to the organisers for uniting the government, private sector, and financiers to highlight the innovative work the innovative work companies in Pakistan are doing to reduce emissions," she said.
