KARACHI: A blast targeting police left one policeman dead and seven others including two policemen injured within the precincts of Mominabad Police station in Orangi Town on Thursday.
Police said explosives were planted near the Mominabad Police station and went off as a police vehicle passed through. The blast was also heard in the remote areas of Paposh and North Nazimabad.
Geo News correspondent said police mobile was completely damaged which showed the high intensity of the blast while the gate of the police station was also partially damaged.
The injured police personnel were shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment.Police surgeon said a policeman was killed.
Sabahat Khan, an eyewitness told Geo News by telephone, that a loud explosion was heard in the area which spread panic among the residents. She said a large number of people gathered at the scene of the attack.
